Thank you for giving me this opportunity to endorse the work of Paul Cummins.
Paul has exhibited within my gallery at Tregoning Fine Art for some time now and his work has been received with much enthusiasm from both the public and the arts establishment alike.
When I initially came across his work I was instantly impressed by the technical skill, concept, aesthetic sensibility and what is undoubtedly a painstaking commitment to detail. It’s rare that I encounter some one with as much knowledge of ‘what is possible’ from a medium as ‘simple’ as clay.
In my twenty-five years of working with both emerging and established artists, I have occasionally come across those with a unique voice, this is one of them. Paul Cummins leaves me in no doubt as to his longevity within the art world. Having spent years in St Ives and Penzance as a dealer and gallerist selling work by some of our great ceramicists (Leach, Jackson, Bedding, Cardew etc.) I am convinced it is only a mater of time before we see the work of Paul Cummins in significant public and private collections. Hand built/thrown sculptural ceramics of the kind this artists produces are gaining ground in the main stream. I am very much looking forward to his next exhibition.
